Start and Dismissal TimesK-6 Schools Receive Additional 15 Minutes of Instructional Time Deer Valley is adding an additional 15 minutes of instructional time to K-6 schools beginning in the 2012-13 school year. Currently, K-6 schools provide 15 minutes less of instructional time compared to K-8 schools. These daily added minutes equate to an additional seven days of instruction during the school year. It is imperative that the district aligns instructional time for students throughout the K-6 and K-8 schools in order to provide all students with equal opportunities for academic success.

School Achievement ProfileAugust 3, 2012 Dear Parents, Today, the Arizona Department of Education reported school achievement profiles for districts and schools throughout Arizona. Last year the Arizona Department of Education added the A-F Accountability Achievement Profiles, a new profile lettering system using “A” through “F” to rate school performance. Although ADE reported both the Legacy labels and Letter Grades last year, this year only A-F Letter Grades are being reported. The Legacy labels have been phased out. The A-F Letter Grades are weighted 50% on student proficiency and 50% on student learning growth for students attending your school. This year, New River Elementary School received a “B” Accountability Achievement Profile. In general, the “B” Achievement Profile designates an above average level of performance for student achievement and learning growth. Additional information on profile letter grades is posted on the Arizona Department of Education’s website, www.ade.az.gov. Thank you, Stephanie Tennille, Principal New River Elementary School |
