Dear Families,

My name is Lindsey Griggs, and I am honored to serve as the Gifted Teacher for students at New River School. I am looking forward to partnering with you and your child for an exciting year of learning, growth, and discovery.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Iowa State University and my Master’s Degree in Teacher Supervision from Arizona State University. This year marks my 21st year in public education, and I continue to feel incredibly fortunate to work with students and support them as they develop their academic, creative, and personal strengths.

In the gifted classroom, my goal is to provide students with meaningful opportunities to think critically, explore complex ideas, solve problems creatively, ask thoughtful questions, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves as learners. I believe gifted education should extend beyond simply providing more challenging work. It should encourage students to think differently, embrace intellectual curiosity, take appropriate risks, and discover the joy that comes from being learning.

My Philosophy

At the center of my teaching philosophy is the belief that the well-being of every student matters. Academic growth is important, but so are confidence, belonging, relationships, resilience, and a positive sense of self. Students are most successful when they feel known, respected, supported, and comfortable being themselves.

I strive to create a classroom environment where students feel safe to ask questions, share ideas, make mistakes, think deeply, and challenge themselves. I also believe in helping gifted learners develop the skills to manage challenges, persevere when learning becomes difficult, and recognize that success is not always about having the right answer.

I am truly looking forward to getting to know your child and learning about the qualities, interests, and strengths that make them unique.
